Can't spill the details of what I worked on (hello NDA!), but here's a peek into the design process ✨

The challenges

Target groups:

  • Drivers who are going to drive the model and use the features (User Persona was defined already)
  • Also for designers who will be presenting the project to the management level at BMW

Problems:

  • How / In what ways can we enrich the experiences, entertainment, and visual enjoyment for drivers approaching their cars
  • How can we show the whole project, its feasibility, and its value in 3 minutes
  • How can we make it easy for designers to use and present the idea at the Expo when presenting more than 10 projects at once

Solutions

Results

Typically, student projects are abandoned once the students leave the company. However, this project was approved by the management team at the Expo, and they decided to continue with further research and development.

Takeaways

  • Develop the entire app utilizing Flutter
  • Place a strong emphasis on design elements and maintaining consistency
  • Collaborate closely with my supervisor to ensure a smooth user journey
  • Develop prototypes that seamlessly integrate with the actual model
  • Conduct prototype testing within the Research and Technology Team
  • Adjust the design based on insights gathered from user testing
  • Recognize that as a designer, knowing the technical feasibility offers a distinct advantage
